The Demon Barber of Fleet Street made an appearance at Belleville East on April 12, 13, and 14th. This musical thriller featured Ian Nanthavong as Sweeney, Ama Nipassa as Nellie Lovett, Spencer Rice as Anthony Hope, Mckenzie Grzina as Johanna Barker, and many more talented Lancers. With a live orchestra, directed by Mr. Tessereau and Mr. Hassall, the show was a huge success all three nights. Sweeney Todd tells the sad tale of a man who had lost his wife and child to a powerful judge of London and had been exiled to Australia. Upon returning to London with the help of Anthony Hope, he seeks revenge on the judge by taking up the mantle of a barber in the shop over Nellie Lovett’s meat pie shop. Things soon go south when Sweeney Todd’s desire to kill the judge overpowers his desire for anything else, causing him to make some terrible mistakes. This was the last play for our senior thespians, and it was a huge success.

Directed by: Zachary Rodgers
